124 thieves arrested in three days from Kathmandu valley

Kathmandu : Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, and Metropolitan Crime Division, have arrested 124 thieves from different parts of the Kathmandu Valley. 

They were arrested under the 'Theft Special Campaign' jointly launched by the Range and Division from January 29. Organising a press conference on Friday, the Range and Division informed that the thieves were arrested red-handed by launching the campaign. 

Chief at the Range, Senior Superintendent of Police, Basanta Kumar Lama, said mostly incidents of theft and robbery took place at day time. 

People, who have all information about house owners, as well as Indian nationals currently living in Nepal for different purpose, are found involved in theft, according to the Range. 

Similarly, Chief of Division and Senior Superintendent of Police, Dhiraj Pratap Singh, said the people from 18 to 30 age group are found involved in this crime. 

He said, "The Police-Community Partnership programme launched by police has made easier to arrest those involved in theft and robbery." 

The team of Range and Division arrested 17 thieves from Baneshwor, 13 from Maharajgunj, eight from New Road, and nine from Thankot on Thursday and Friday while investigation on 83 people is continued.
