Ilam : Senior leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Jhalanath Khanal, has said the big communist parties- CPN UML and Maoist Centre- were unified to fulfill country's needs. "Development is not possible in the absence of unity among all communist parties," senior leader Khanal said while addressing an orientation programme organized for the party cadres here Friday.
Senior leader Khanal reminded that the dream of late leader Pushpa Lal for party building five decades back has come true now. Also the former prime minister, Khanal said election system was getting costly, so it needs change. Common leaders were not able to fight for the election owning to costly election, he stressed.
On the occasion, deputy leader of the NCP parliamentary party, Subash Nembang, suggested those accusing the present government of being authoritarian to read the constitution. No political party could act beyond the spirit of the constitution, he added.
According to him, the constitution has encompassed the aspiration of people from all communities. So, it was pointless to question the constitution. "If the communist was not in the leadership, the constitution was impossible," he argued, adding that unification of communists has ensured political stability and paved way for development.
