Salleri, Solukhumbu : Some hundred mountaineers have reached the summit of the world's highest mountain Everest or Sagarmatha today.
A total of 94 climbers representing various expedition teams scaled the Mt Everest in different times of the day, according to liaison officer of Department of Tourism Gyanendra Shrestha. The summit today was successful after weather improved in comparison to yesterday when none had reached the summit. Sherpa guides started the summit this season on the first day on May 13 with eight of the making it to the top. Likewise, 39 mountaineers reached atop Mt Everest on the second day.
But none on the third day due to adverse weather conditions, added Shrestha. Meanwhile, Kamrita Sherpa has made a new world record for the most number of summits to the Everest. This was his 22nd time on the top of the world. He breaks the world record set for 21 times by Appa Sherpa.
